I have a crush on a boy

{boy | band of outsiders fall 09 collection via style.com}

I adore Scott Sternberg's fall 09 collection for Boy.  I have always loved the play of masculine/feminine and the tomboy look.  This particular line has that classic Hitchcock heroine quality that I find so appealing and sexy.  The proportions and textures are so cool.

p.s. I need those high heeled sneakers!!!

can't touch this

Tried on the sample of the jasmine knit pant today.  I think they are crazy!  I love them.  It's sort of hard to see the pleat details, but you can get the silhouette.  I'm going to take in the waist a bit and stitch the pleats down and then we're good to go.
What do you think?

hammer time

will be in organic jersey with rib waistband

This is just one of the patterns and 1st sewing sample I freestyled today.  Will try to fit it tomorrow with pictures on how it looks.  These drop crotch pants stem from my current obsession with the Balmain pant silhouette and Emmanuelle Alt (Paris Vogue's fashion director).   Am I crazy that I think these are cute for little kids?  I actually think they are very practical (with not being too forward) because they are easy pull-ons and leave lots of room if your kid is still potty training.

rock, paper, scissors

80% of my work time is production.  After perfecting the design and pattern, I'm constantly laying out the fabric, marking, cutting, and bundling up for sewing.  I do like laying out the marker, it's a puzzle, but I get great satisfaction when I have very low wastage of fabric.  Seeing this done with machines at factories makes me in awe with technology (and wishing I had accessibility to them).

I'm starting to design sp/sum 09 collection.  Inspirational images to come......

copyright

It is so sad and low that my former employer has just ripped-off my husband's design that he developed 5 years ago for his small growing business.  I guess it's just not enough that he dedicated a year and a half and I dedicated 9 years to this company -- designing and helping their business grow strong.  Are we in such poor economic times that people are that desperate and have lost their creativity and integrity?

There are too many coincidences that lead to this "inspired" rip off.  We even gave the original headphone graphic as GIFTS to the head of design and the boy's graphic artist.

While this may be legal due to the laws regarding trademark and intellectual property, I strongly believe that this IS unethical business practice.

Please support small independent designers and businesses and let Gymboree know how you feel about this!
